Re: Our goalkeeping situation
Ideally I'd sell Randolph and replace Adrian with a better keeper but I don't think we have the money and probably not a priority

Re: Our goalkeeping situation
Randolph is a decent back-up goalkeeper for a club of our size.

If he was any better then he probably wouldn't have joined us as an understudy to Adrian and would be looking to leave to find first team football in the summer (which he may yet do).

He's done a good job in my opinion but Adrian is still the better choice.

Re: Our goalkeeping situation
Adrian's a better shot stopper than Randolph but poor at catching and kicking. Randolph catches better but has let a couple in that I fancy Adrian would have saved.

Adrian is miles better than Randolph.

Re: Our goalkeeping situation
I agree that he his in the top 5 keepers based on this season.
Not so sure about him being our second best player though.

Re: Our goalkeeping situation
Always find it interesting to find out the opinions of our players from other fans.

At the pub last week, almost all of them saw Adrian as our second best player, after Payet, and rate him as probably the 4th or 5th best goalie in the league!

Re: Our goalkeeping situation
'GREENO' had his name chanted by the crowd last Tuesday night. If Rudolph gets tempted away in the summer,I can see the return of Rob on the cards, but at a reduced salary, and definitely second choice to Adrian, who is a very good goalie in my opinion.

Does that not include the howler he made against Man U?

What do people think now after the last few games?

Still backing Randolph as No.1 or has Adrian got better by being injured?

norwich hammer 8:58 Thu Apr 14
Re: Our goalkeeping situation
Adrian is not a top notch keeper and I've been saying it for the last two years. imo Randolph is a better choice but Bilic does not think so or would have given him a run.

Re: Our goalkeeping situation
There is a potential problem 'the other way round' (too) in having a "cup" goalkeeper in that if Randolph ever displaces Adrian in the first team that does:

a) Randolph then get himself dropped for the later stages of the Cups, e.g if we made it to the Fa cup semi/final or Europa league later stages.

b) Randolph play all the games and Adrian never get a game.

Re: Our goalkeeping situation
Why can't we just accept that we have 2 very good keepers at the club?

For me Adrian has done nothing wrong - the odd kicking mistake - but nothing thats cost us a goal.

He stands out game after game as class. He's won us numerous games this season.

Randolph is shit hot too - but for me Adrian hasn't done anything that merits getting dropped. Or even makes him less than number 1.

Good times though - we've got 2 very good keepers.

dealcanvey 6:24 Thu Apr 14
Re: Our goalkeeping situation
Dropping Adrian would be harsh. Next season hopefully we will have Europa League football and Randolph will get alot more game time.

ornchurch ammer 6:14 Thu Apr 14
Re: Our goalkeeping situation
IMO Adrian has made less mistakes than Hart this season and has certainly been better than Cech and Courtois.

Far Cough 5:38 Thu Apr 14
Re: Our goalkeeping situation
Even Joe Hart makes howlers, practically every keeper does

El Scorchio 5:32 Thu Apr 14
Re: Our goalkeeping situation
Adrian has saved us plenty of points this season.

He's made a fair few one on one/point blank saves to keep a score level or keep a goal advantage- often after not having anything to do for 20-30 minutes.

Sure there was the mistake against Palace, but he's done nothing wrong aside from that to warrant being dropped. Randolph can count himself unlucky, but the shirt is Adrian's to lose at the moment. Should he get injured or suspended, then Randolph has a great chance to make the shirt his own.

Funny how peoples view on Randolph has changed, pre season people were absolutely slating the bloke.

Re: Our goalkeeping situation
i'd play randolph. its not dropping adrian, its just we have another goalkeeper who could do with some minutes.

andyd12345 3:53 Thu Apr 14
Re: Our goalkeeping situation
He did indeed make a good save at Everton, but he's also conceded 10 goals in 4 games (including a howler against Palace). Yes, you can question the back 4 throughout those games, but as the last line of defence that isn't a great return.

You disagree, and Bilic may well disagree as well, but I'd be pleased if we gave Randolph a run in the side over the last few games of the season

Admiral Lard 3:53 Thu Apr 14
Re: Our goalkeeping situation
Both are excellent shot stoppers and of the 2 I rate Randolph as better on commanding his area at set pieces and his distribution under pressure.

Whilst i dont think Adrian has done too much wrong that is never the point of selection, Randolph has shown all round he's a better keeper and should have the opportunity to show what he can do in the final 5 games
